Each profile can send a set number of posts each month. This is the monthly post quota. The social networks also have their own limits, which are separate.

Monthly Post Quota

The monthly post quota limits how many post requests (POST /post) a profile can send in a calendar month.
  • Every profile has its own quota and its own count. The Primary Profile and each User Profile are counted separately.
  • The amount depends on your plan. See pricing for each plan’s amount.
  • Posts sent from the Ayrshare dashboard count too.

When the Quota Resets

The monthly post quota resets on the 1st of each calendar month, starting at 00:07 UTC. It can take a few minutes to reach every account. The reset date is the same for every account and is not tied to your billing date.
  • Paying a renewal invoice does not reset the quota.
  • Changing your plan resets your Primary Profile’s count right away. User Profiles keep their count until the 1st.
  • If you subscribe mid-month, you start with a fresh count. The next reset is still the 1st.
  • The reset uses UTC. In the Americas, it happens on the evening of the last day of the previous month.

What Counts Toward the Quota

  • One post request counts as one, no matter how many platforms it targets. A post to five platforms counts as one.
  • Failed posts count. If Ayrshare tries to send a post, it counts, even if some or all platforms fail. For example, the social network rejects it or the account is not linked.
  • Blocked posts count. Posts that Ayrshare blocks after repeated identical failures on a platform still count.
  • Scheduled posts count when they publish, not when you schedule them.
These do not count:
  • Requests rejected before sending, such as a request rejected with code 106.
  • Posts that fail post verification on every platform they target. If the post passes on at least one platform and is sent, it counts.

When You Run Out

When a profile has used its monthly post quota:
  • New post requests return HTTP 429 with code: 106. This includes requests that schedule a post for later.
  • Other post requests also return code: 106 until the reset. For example, getting, deleting or retrying a post, and post analytics.
  • Scheduled posts that come due fail with code: 106. They do not publish automatically after the reset. Send them again once the quota resets.
This is not a rate limit. Waiting a few minutes will not help. Posting works again after the reset on the 1st (UTC). See code 106.

Check Your Usage

Call Get Profile Details (GET /user). To check a User Profile, add its Profile-Key header.
  • monthlyPostCount: posts counted this month.
  • monthlyPostQuota: the monthly limit. It is omitted when the quota is 10,000 or more, for example on Business plans. The limit still applies.
  • monthlyApiCalls is a different counter. It is not the post quota.

Avoid Using Up Your Quota by Accident

Failed posts count, so a loop that keeps retrying failing posts can use up the whole quota without publishing anything.
  • Don’t automatically retry errors that will fail again. Fix the cause first, for example relink the account.
  • Retry only errors that can succeed on a retry, such as those with retryAvailable: true, and limit the number of retries.
  • Check monthlyPostCount regularly so you notice an unexpected jump.

Social Network Limits

The social networks set their own limits. These are separate from Ayrshare’s monthly post quota, and both can apply. For example, LinkedIn allows 150 posts per day and Instagram allows 50 posts every 24 hours. We recommend limiting daily posts to get more views and engagement. See our recommended posting limits.

Fair Use and Rate Limits

All posts and API calls are subject to Ayrshare’s fair use policy to prevent abuse of the social networks’ services. Please review the terms of service and rate limits for details.
